The Harlem, New York author, Denera McCullough, graduated from the HBCU Benedict College in Columbia, SC. She values family, education, community service, and self-love. Denera teaches those same values to her toddler through story time every night. Even though her son has numerous books, she noticed the disparity of Black characters in literature. As a result of her observations, Denera decided to use her family's adventures to create a line of children's books. Her intention is to inspire other writers to write children's books featuring Black characters as the protagonist.
Denera McCullough also serves her community by volunteering for the National Association of Each One Teach One, Inc. 501c3 non-profit founded in 1967. She grew up as a participant of the organization, which evolved into volunteering since the age of 13. Volunteering for the National Association of Each One Teach One, Inc. played an essential role in understanding my stories matter.
